Which CBD Oil Strength Do I Need?
Which CBD Oil Strength
Do I Need?
What does the percentage mean?
The percentage indicates how much CBD is in the oil relative to the total content. A 10% CBD oil contains 10% CBD. Specifically: a 10 ml bottle contains exactly approximately 1.000 mg of CBD at 10%.
But that number only really means something when you know how much CBD is in each drop. That is the number you work with when dosing. For more background on the difference between CBD and THC, read our article. CBD vs. THC: what is the difference?
| Level | CBD per drop | CBD per bottle (10 ml) | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5% | approx. 2,5 mg | approx. 500 mg | € 24,95 |
| 10 % | approx. 4,5 mg | approx. 1.000 mg | € 44,95 |
| 15 % | approx. 7 mg | approx. 1.500 mg | € 69,95 |
| 20 % | approx. 9 mg | approx. 2.000 mg | € 89,95 |
| 25 % | approx. 11,5 mg | approx. 2.500 mg | € 109,95 |
| 30 % | approx. 14 mg | approx. 3.000 mg | € 129,95 |
| 40 % | approx. 18,5 mg | approx. 4.000 mg | € 169,95 |
New to CBD? Start with 2 drops of the 5%, twice a day. That is approximately 10 mg of CBD per day: a safe, low starting dose to discover how your body reacts. After a week, build up to 3 to 4 drops. Most people eventually reach 20 to 40 mg per day with daily use.
Can I also just take more drops of a lower strength?
This is the question almost everyone has, and the honest answer is: in theory it is possible, but in practice it does not work well. There are three reasons.
1. Volume under the tongue
CBD oil works best sublingually: you hold the drops under your tongue for 60 to 90 seconds so that the mucous membranes absorb the CBD immediately. With 3 to 4 drops, this is easy. With 10 to 12 drops, you end up with a mouth full of oil that you can barely hold in. You swallow the vast majority too quickly, and it disappears through the digestive system, which works more slowly and less efficiently.
2. The bottle empties faster than you think
A 10 ml bottle contains approximately 200 drops. If you consistently need 12 drops per day instead of 4, that bottle will be empty three times as fast. A 5% oil costing €24,95 that runs out three times as fast costs the same per month as a 15% oil costing €69,95, even though the 15% is easier to dose and better to keep sublingual.
3. Dosage becomes less precise
If each drop contains only 2,5 mg of CBD, one drop more or less is already a relatively large jump in your daily dosage. With higher strengths, you work with fewer drops and can better calibrate small adjustments.
Choose a strength where your ideal dose fits into 3 to 4 drops per intake, 2 to 3 times a day. Do you notice that you consistently need more than 4 drops? Then it is time to move up a step in percentage, not to keep increasing the drops.
Choose by strength: which level suits you?
The range extends from a light entry-level model for beginners to maximum strength for experienced users. Use the bar below for a quick orientation, and then read which level suits your situation.
5% and 10%: start and test the waters
The 5% is the most logical starting point if you have no prior experience with CBD oil. The dosage per drop is low (approx. 2,5 mg), allowing you to build up gradually and discover how your body reacts. The 10% is a natural step up as soon as you notice you need more.
15%, 20% and 25%: regular use
For people who know they want to continue using CBD oil and are looking for a stable daily dose. The 15% is the most popular choice: with 4 drops, you already get approximately 28 mg of CBD per dose. The 20% and 25% are logical next steps if the effect of the 15% diminishes over time.
30% and 40%: high strength for experienced users
For people who have been using CBD for a long time and notice that their body has become accustomed to lower percentages. The 30% delivers approximately 14 mg per drop; 2 to 3 drops already provide a substantial dose. The 40% is the strongest oil in the range. Do not start with this if you are new to CBD.
Or choose by goal: targeted formula oils
In addition to the strength scale, Cannabis Bakehouse also has a line of formula oils: oils that are not optimized by percentage, but for a specific purpose. They are at 4% or 10%, so lower than the standard strengths. This is intentional: the formula comes first, not the concentration.
These are oils for people with a concrete goal: not "I want more CBD", but "I want support with anxiety" or "I want to recover faster after sports".
For anxiety and restlessness
The Anxiety formula was developed for people who notice that feelings of anxiety or restlessness affect their daily lives. The oil contains 4% CBD and is specifically formulated to support a calming balance. A lower percentage, used in a targeted manner.
For stress and recovery from overload
The Stress Killer formula targets people struggling with persistent work stress or feeling the first signs of burnout. With 10% CBD and a targeted blend, this oil supports relaxation and mental recovery at times when the mind cannot find peace.
For pain and inflammation
The Pain Relief formula is formulated to support pain and inflammation-related complaints. With 10% CBD, this is the strongest formula oil, aimed at people whose primary complaint is physical discomfort and who are looking for a specific product for this.
For muscle recovery after sports
The Recovery formula is for active people: athletes or anyone who does physically demanding work and finds that recovery takes time. With 4% CBD and a targeted composition, this oil supports the body after exertion, so you can go full throttle again the next day.
Before sleep
The Fall Asleep Liquid combines CBD with melatonin in the Meladol formula, specifically aimed at people who have trouble falling asleep or have a restless night. Melatonin supports the sleep-wake cycle; the combination with CBD makes this a unique product for those who cannot unwind in the evening.
How do you use CBD oil?
CBD oil works best sublingually: directly under the tongue, do not swallow immediately. This way, the CBD is absorbed directly into the bloodstream via the mucous membranes, faster and more efficiently than through the digestive system. Would you like to take CBD in another way? Always start with 2 drops, twice a day, regardless of the strength you choose. After a week, build up to 3 to 4 drops. Take at least 2 to 4 weeks before drawing conclusions about the effect.
