Truffles work by psilocybin and psilocin binding to serotonin receptors in the brain, causing perception changes.
As soon as you eat truffles, psilocybin is converted by your liver into psilocin, the active substance. Psilocin attaches to 5-HT2A serotonin receptors in your brain. This changes perception, emotions, thought patterns and sensory perception.
You can get visual effects like patterns, colors, shape changes. Other people experience emotional intensity: laughter, wonder, introspection. Time distortion is also common: seconds feel like minutes.
After 20–60 min you will feel the effects increasing. Peak is after 1–2 hours, lasts 4–6 hours, followed by a 'come‑down' and aftercare phase. Underlying mood and environment influence the whole experience.
Loss of control only comes in high doses combined with unprepared mindset. Loss of ego is sometimes spiritual, sometimes intense. Provide compass through environment, people, music, materials to write.
Always check first whether truffles are legal in your region.
